Synergy Research Centers in Lemon Grove is currently running a clinical research study for patients with major depressive disorder in San Diego. Major depression is one of the most common mental disorders in the United States and can often be misdiagnosed or self-diagnosed. Losing a loved one, your job, or other difficult situations can lead a person to feel this way but these feelings are normal reactions to these events. Those that experience these feelings daily, nearly daily, or for weeks at a time for no reason at all may live with major depression.
What is Major Depression?
Major Depression is a condition in which a person feels discouraged, hopeless, disinterested, or unmotivated in life in general. When these feelings occur often and last for more than two weeks and interfere with daily life activities such as taking care of yourself and your family, it is likely that a depressive episode is occurring. Depression affects the way you think and may often give feelings of worthlessness making this mental illness dangerous for the individual. Major depression is controllable through medication and therapy but as a community, it is key that we continue working towards a lasting cure.
What to Expect from Depression Clinical Trials?
A clinical depression study begins with a short phone interview with a qualified staff member at Synergy Research Centers. They will ask questions about your battle with major depression, as well as more practical information such as your travel accommodations, age, and medical history. Once approved, you will be asked to come in to our facility in Lemon Grove and begin the study. During the depression trial, study participants will either be given a new depression treatment or a placebo, and you will then communicate how you are feeling with our research team.
